Embracing Challenge

Students in grades 1 through 8 spend time working independently using the following websites: code.org (basic coding and computer science), typetolearn.com (keyboarding skills), and mobymax.com (reinforce math and reading). During the lesson portion of class, topics discussed include: Digital Citizenship, use and application of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) and Google Suite Apps (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, etc). Students in 5th through 8th grade are also guided through the research process and writing a research paper.
The students in PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade spend time learning about the parts of the computer and their uses. Instructional time is also used to show  students how to log-on to a computer on the local network.
MMS is a Google For Education school and students are given individual Google log-ins. 2nd grade students and older use this log-in in class, both information resources and homeroom, whenever they go on the Internet. Students in 4th through 8th grades are 1:1 chromebook, using their Google log-ins on a daily basis.
