What grades are at MMS?
Students range from PreK to grade 8. The 3-year old children attend 5-half day sessions per week. The 4-year old children in PreK attend 5-full day sessions per week.
What is the daily schedule at MMS?
School starts promptly at 8:00 am and dismissal begins at 2:00 pm.
Do you have to be of the Catholic faith to attend MMS?
MMS welcomes students of all faiths. In fact, approximately 23% of our system-wide students practice a faith other then Catholicism, giving MMS students the opportunity to celebrate individual differences as well as giving them a valuable resource to learn about others.
Does MMS offer a before or after school program?
Yes, MMS does offer Before School and After School care for their students. Before Care runs from 7-7:30 am. Students using the before care program may bring breakfast with them and eat while sitting in before care. After Care is offered to MMS parents who need after school care for their children. The purpose of the program is to provide child-centered, safe, stimulating and happy environment, which allows children to interact freely with others. The service is offered Monday - Fridays, from 2:30 - 5:30 pm. There is a $10 registration fee for all students, and once registered, families can use the services hourly, daily or weekly. Rates, which are subject to change, are $6 per hour for the 1st child, $4 per hour for each additional child, or $60 per child per week (when paid in advance) for full time use.
Will my children have regularly scheduled art, music, and other fine arts classes?
MMS's academic program includes daily Language Arts, Religion, Math, Science, Social Studies, as well as weekly Music, Physical Education, Computer/Library, and Art classes. Weekly Health classes are also taught in Grades 1, 3, 5, and 7.
What sports are offered to MMS students?
Monsignor McHugh's sports include boys' and girls' Soccer, Basketball, co-ed Cross Country, and introduction to Golf. Scheduled Skiing and Snowboarding opportunities are also available.
Is there a specific time when interested students and their families can visit MMS?
Open Houses are scheduled for Catholic Schools Week in January, but a personal tour can e scheduled at your convenience by calling the school's office at (570)-595-7463 or by submitting an inquiry online. Shadowing opportunities for interested students are also available.
Is tuition assistance available?
Tuition assistance is available through the Diocese of Scranton's Scholarship Foundation, funded through the EITC Tax Credit Program. Applications are available at https://online.factsmgt.com/signin/3NYJL
Are there tuition payment plans available?
Tuition is paid to the FACTS tuition management company. Options are available for 1 payment, 2 payments, or 12 monthly payments. Payments can be made via credit card or bank transfer.
Is there an on-line parent/school communication source available?
MMS offers FACTS SIS (RenWeb), a tool for parents to access and share critical school information, including each student's grades for every class, which are updated regularly.
